Survey
This constituency is my home, and I know that the people here deserve better than our current Tory MP.
My Labour values have been embedded in me since a Labour government welcomed my family into this country and provided it with opportunities to grow and prosper. It was Labour’s welfare state and provision of social security that kept a struggling family from destitution.
I have grown up under a Labour government and have witnessed first-hand the impact investment in our schools and NHS can make on the quality of life and future chances of our citizens. I have also witnessed the detrimental impact the Conservative party has had on young people like me – where our tuition fees trebled when I was a 17-year-old carrying student debt. Now young people are facing the impact of soaring costs, unable to purchase their first home under the current economic climate.
I fight for working people everyday at UNISON, and I will continue to fight for a fairer society with the same passion in Parliament.
It is going to be a tough contest to win here. With my energy, experience, and local roots we can turn Harborough, Oadby and Wigston red.
Let’s get Britain’s future back, together.
Hajira.
